The goal of a resume is to spark interest to lead to an interview. Nothing more.

In today’s job market there is a flood of candidates on the market. Even those holding current jobs have no qualms about seeing what’s out there. The old time standard of staying with a company for years is long gone. As a result, successful company’s are deluged with résumé’s, most from people that don’t fit in the first place. The way they handle that is to have a Jr. HR Representative do an initial screening or maybe an entry level Recruiter will handle it. In large corporations it’s a canned or specially designed software screening system that gets this done.

How this works is the human being or software program search for certain key words and if not found, trash the resume. It doesn’t matter if you are the most qualified, if you don’t have those key words, you may not make the cut.
